Scoopin’ Poop w/Coop

By the time this blog goes into production, our little guy will be at least 3 weeks old. Standing ovation for getting back on the blog train so quick? No? Yes? No? We’ll come back to that. Cooper Joseph Cowley was born on July 26th 2012 weighing and measuring in at 7lbs. 3oz. 20in. @ 6:15 p.m. Party was hosted by Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Thanks for all the patience and late night visits. And I just now realized that Coop is the only member of the Cowley family born in Tulsa, OK. Interesting to me…probably not for everyone else. What an experience though?! That feeling you get when your son or daughter officially comes into this world is indescribable. Personally, I get so overwhelmed with emotion I don’t know what to do first: Kiss my amazing wife? Text the world and some other planets? Run to go get Kori? Light a cigar? Pop a bottle? High-Five the doc? Maybe break into a little hot step? Scramble for the video camera? Eventually, I check marked all those boxes and then some. Without going into a ton of detail..yes, I watched and, yes, I cut the cord. Feel like those are the two most common questions asked afterwards.
The day itself went pretty smooth in my opinion. Stacey and I checked ourselves in at 7:30 a.m. played the waiting game, did some scratch offs, watched some tube, chit chatted with the staff, etc. Stacey is such a soldier. I know I don’t say this enough, but “I couldn’t have married a more perfect mother.” I’m extremely blessed to have such a wonderful family, and I owe a lot of that to my wife. I know carrying and delivering a kid isn’t easy, but she puts up a pretty strong front. I love the personality she puts into the pains/struggles of carrying a baby for 9 months.
Since Coop came to town, it’s been a little bit of an adjustment going back to work and managing two kids but it’s also been a lot of fun too. Coop has started putting together his own version of a smile, and seems to be a little more observant each day. Aside from that, it’s poop, sleep, and eat. Kori, on the other hand, could run through 5 different emotions in 5 minutes if she’s really working it: Big Sister, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Lovey Dovey, Godzilla, or Snack Attack. That little girl is so hard to discipline…she’s so stinking cute and hilarious. Even when she steps out of line, I can’t keep a straight face long enough to lay down the law. She will have to share the throne as far as the blog is concerned. Over the course of the next few entries, I’ll be toying with a few new titles. Feel free to submit suggestions. Can’t wait to introduce all of you to our new little guy. The love and support has been so amazing and we thank all of you for showing so much interest in our well-being.

xoxo

Everyone’s afraid of something, right? Heights, clowns, tight spaces. Those are things you get over. But then there’s our children. Will they fit in? Will they be safe? Those are fears you never get past. So, sometimes all you can do is take a deep breath, pull them close, and hope for the best. I mean, things don’t always work out. But you gotta love it when they do.
